From the field to the mentor's seat
I have played sports all my life. For years, I played numerous sports that ranged from basketball or softball to Irish Dancing. I committed to playing soccer in middle school, where I joined an amazing group of girls at FC Westchester until we switched to Patriots FC a couple years later. It was a small club, so no one knew who we were and everyone treated us as the underdogs. However, we made a name for ourselves as National Champions in 2023. A couple months later I started playing for Connecticut College in the NESCAC in Division 3 athletics. Now, I am getting ready to play my last season of collegiate soccer!
Why they mentor
“I've played soccer my whole life, and am lucky to have achieved a goal of mine of playing collegiate soccer at Connecticut College! However, when I joined my club soccer team at 11 years old, I began to experience new struggles I have never faced before. I know not everyone is as lucky as I am to have friends, teammates, and professionals that are there for me when I struggle mentally, which I was I want to be a mentor for athletes who need support, guidance, and someone who can relate. The Better Together platform is the best way for athletes to reach out and talk to a mentor, and I am grateful that I am one of these mentors that are here to help. In my future, I plan to have a career in Sport Psychology, where I can further help athletes who are limited in mental health resources. I believe all athletes deserve the right to receive mental health help, and I am thrilled to be a part of a program that does just that!”
