From the field to the mentor's seat
My name is Leah Iglesias. I'm originally from Long Island, NY. I played soccer and lacrosse at Carle Place High School. I continued my athletic career at Hofstra University for my freshmen and sophomore seasons. I transferred after a year and a half to William and Mary where I currently play soccer! I am a Kinesiology and Psychology Major and plan to one day work as a registered dietician or a sports psychiatrist. I work as a coach for younger players, and I love giving back to the sport that has done so much for me. In my spare time, I love spending time with family and friends especially at the beach or at a cute coffee shop. I also love taking walks and reading. I have two older brothers and two dogs, and I don’t know which duo is more misbehaved :) I want to be part of this program because I believe in what it stands for. It would be an honor to give back and help others through mentorship as I believe dialogue is such a powerful tool. I look forward to building a rapport with younger players and hope to be a resource for them. I hope to have a positive impact on their journey in any way I can. I love to reflect on my own journey, and I feel I have learned the most by talking about all the experiences I have been through. I've been fortunate to play at the Division One level, winning 2 conference championships and competing in 3 NCAA tournament games. I believe I am someone that others can relate to because of my experience being a collegiate athlete and competing at a high level but also because I experienced a transfer and two completely different programs. Navigating the stress that comes from sports can be challenging. Your college journey will present a ton of highs and lows, from being away from home for the first time to managing all your schoolwork and travel schedule. But it is supposed to be an exciting and enjoyable time, so I am here to help, and I am excited to get to know you!
