From the field to the mentor's seat
My name is Gwen Schemm. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and now live in Baltimore, Maryland. I started playing soccer when I was 4 and later achieved my dream of playing college soccer when I committed to Frostburg State University in Western Maryland, where I earned degrees in Communication Studies and Psychology. I captained the team my senior year and was the first Academic All-American in DII history at the school. I’m wrapping up my Master’s degree in Emerging Media at Loyola University Maryland while also working on the Marketing and Innovation team at United Way of Central Maryland. I'm so excited to be coaching young soccer players this fall in South Baltimore as a way to still be involved in the game. I am excited to be part of Better Together to help empower the next generation of student-athletes. I’m ready to share my lived experience to lend a hand as student-athletes navigate the next steps in their journeys.
